Candle Care 101: Tips for a Perfect Burn Every Time
As artists and candlemakers ourselves, we strive to improve our craft and our candles everyday. We are constantly thinking, researching, and experimenting with new methods, combinations, and materials to deliver luxurious, high-quality candles.
Whether you're winding down after a long day or setting the mood for a slow weekend morning, your scented candle is designed to bring both sophistication and comfort to your space. To ensure a clean, safe, and long-lasting burn, follow these essential care tips.
Wick Care = Clean Burn
The wick is small, but it makes a big difference. Before each burn, trim your wick to approximately 1/4 inch. This simple habit promotes a steady flame, reduces smoke, and helps minimize soot buildup on the glass. A trimmed wick also ensures your candle burns evenly, maximizing its lifespan.
If your wick develops a mushroom-like tip, that’s a natural byproduct of burning. Once the wax cools, just snip it off before your next burn.
Burn Time: Less Is More
We recommend enjoying your candle in sessions of no more than 3 hours. While it’s tempting to keep your candle burning through to enjoy our luxury scents, it’s best to limit each session. Burning for too long can cause the container to overheat, which isn’t safe for you or your candle. After a few hours of ambiance, extinguish the flame and allow the wax to cool before relighting.
This not only extends the life of your candle but also ensures the fragrance continues to perform beautifully every time you use it.
Handle with Intention
Always place your candle on a heat-resistant, stable surface, away from drafts, flammable materials, or curious pets. If the glass becomes hot to the touch, it’s time to give your candle a break. And never leave a burning candle unattended— our creations are best enjoyed responsibly.
Soot Is Natural, But Preventable
A small amount of soot is normal, especially with natural waxes. You can reduce it significantly by keeping the candle our of draft and avoiding air movement around the flame. This keeps both your candle and your space looking clean and refined.
